W.I.P. - Diablo III: Reaper of Souls Contest Entry

It's been a while since I have posted anything here. I have had a few art projects here-and-there, but not really any time to post. I recently had been working on an entry for a contest over at deviantart.com. The contest was calling for fan art for the new Diablo III expansion pack, "Reaper of Souls". I have since missed the deadline but I am going to finish my painting just to practice discipline and complete projects that I start (which I usually don't do when there is no reason pushing me to finish).

Multiple references were used in the initial design. The problem that I ran into was that any reference image for the user's equipment in Diablo III was that the images were so small in dimensions, it was difficult to use them as an accurate representation of the items.

Portrait of Bob W.I.P.

I have slowly, but surely, been working on getting portraits of my pets done to promote my new endeavor of painting portraits of peoples' pets. I have not gotten much interest yet, but I am hoping that will change with having more paintings done. Here is the progress so far of my painting of Bob.

Portrait of Riley - Steps

I had this idea to paint one of my dogs as if he was in a traditional portrait. I put in about 8 hours on Saturday while listening to "Roseanne" on the TV in the background. I figure that I have about an hour or two left until completion. I have had a really great time painting this and laughing the entire time. Here are some of the steps in my progress so far. Painting done entirely in Adobe Photoshop on a Wacom Cintiq tablet.

Update***
Painting complete. Total time: 10 hrs.

Finished: The Hay King of Beet Farmers

I have been working on this for quite some time. Not in terms of actual work put in, just in terms of hammering away a bit at a time over a course of months. I finally finished it last night. 20+ hours in Photoshop. Enjoy!

Dwight The Hay King

I had the idea to do a painting of Dwight as the Hay King from a previous episode. I am really having a great time painting this. The hay texture was a bit of a challenge at first but I came up with a process that greatly reduced the time involved in painting.

Kate Austen - LOST - Steps

I decided to take my painting of Kate Austen that I did for my self-challenge "50 paintings in 50 days" and take it to a new level. I am about 50% in and hope to be done soon. It has been quite challenging for me to do this, but very fun.

Complete.
